One of the great perks of being Chief Science Officer at Q Sciences is that I get to bring you the good news. And the good news in this case is healthy energy and vitality. With all the demands on our time, it’s easy to feel tired, stressed, and just plain rundown. Q Vitalize is a potent herbal and amino acid blend that fuels your body’s ability to get the most out of each day. I could easily write a book about Q Vitalize, so bear with me while I boil things down.

Seeking Vitality:
When I was 19 years old and in pre-med studies, I discovered the wonderful world of nutritional supplements. Since then I have been passionately focused on creating combinations of herbs and micronutrients to improve health and a sense of wellbeing. In 1981, after years of studying herbal medicine, I discovered amino acid therapy and gave my first grand rounds presentation at UCLA on the use of tryptophan and tyrosine for mood disorders. The idea of combining these two wonderful avenues of natural medicine has been my obsession since then, but it was not until I joined forces with Q Sciences that I had the opportunity to realize this dream with the Q Vitalize formulas. Over the years several other companies had approached me, but I did not feel that they had the same goals with regards to content, value, and quality that I found with Q Sciences.
Energy is a precious commodity for us human beings-the key is having the right amount of the right kind of energy at the right time. Too little energy during productive hours contributes to poor work performance, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and depression. Too much energy during normal times of rest leads to stress, anxiety, sleeplessness, and heart disease. Unfortunately, many of the “energy” formulas available do not take that into account, and it is easy to be fooled by harmful stimulants that drain the adrenal glands and ultimately rob the body of energy and peace. Q Vitalize is designed to provide a reliable energy boost while at the same time actually reducing cortisol levels and related stress.

Herbs as Biological Triggers:
Herbs contain far more than the usual micronutrients, and the right herb combination can trigger deep biological pathways for rejuvenation and health. Every single modern pharmaceutical drug class is derived from chemicals found in herbs. Every culture has used herbal medicine to cure and prevent illnesses, and each culture has had its “super herbs”-herbs that were found to be superior, energizing, and capable of healing many serious conditions. The herbs I have selected for Q Vitalize are all super “vitalizing” herbs, containing complex and unique biochemical compounds that profoundly affect the brain, heart, liver, and immune system. A useful term to describe this class of herbs is “adaptogens”-meaning that they enable the body to adapt to internal and external stress while remaining healthy and balanced. The remarkable thing is that the many benefits from these adaptogens are deep and long lasting, and taking Q Vitalize on a regular basis will regulate and optimize cell function throughout the body.  Each version of Q Vitalize (men’s, women’s, caffeine, caffeine free) contains eight herbs. These herbs have the ability to normalize hormone levels as well as hormone recept or responsiveness. Men and women have different hormonal and energy needs, and while many herbs work well for both sexes, some are better suited for just one gender, and have been so used traditionally for good reason.
Men’s (caffeine) – rhodiola, eleuthero, ashwaganda, green tea extract, green coffee extract, guarana, tribulus
Men’s (caffeine-free) – rhodiola, eleuthero, damiana, ashwaganda, fo-ti, sceletium tortuosum (Zembrin®), muira puama, tribulus
Women’s (caffeine) – rhodiola, eleuthero, damiana, black cohosh, green tea extract, green coffee extract, guarana, dong quai
Women’s (caffeine-free) – rhodiola, eleuthero, damiana, melissa, holy basil, sceletium tortuosum (Zembrin®), muira puama, fo ti
By limiting the number of herbs, we can use a full therapeutic dose of each and that is important in turning on the biological switches, or triggers, that set in motion the body’s own healing and rejuvenating processes. We even added quercitin (a bioflavenoid) to help boost immunity at all ages. In order to get all of that great stuff in the right dosage means that five capsules are necessary for an average dose (2,500 mg total). Over the past 30 years I have been dialing in the dosage of each component so that synergy is maximized.
Amino Acids – Building Blocks for Health:
Let’s start with the amino acid ingredients
Amino acids are the  building blocks for most of the biochemical “messengers” in the body. An insufficiency or deficiency of one or more essential amino acids can lead to depression, chronic fatigue, and an overall ‘blah’ feeling. Just eating protein is not enough to ensure high levels, as essential amino acids must compete for absorption and utilization with other non-essential amino acids. Chronic deficiencies of the amino acid based neurotransmitters adrenalin, serotonin, dopamine, and acetylcholine can lead to dementia and premature aging. That is why amino acid therapy is so important, useful, and effective-and also why it is better to take supplements containing key amino acids on an empty stomach (at least 15 minutes before eating a protein-containing meal) to ensure full utilization. Any energy formula without amino acid components is simply incomplete.
All Q Vitalize formulas contain a therapeutic dosage of both L-tyrosine and N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC). Therapeutic means that this is a full dose and not a tiny dose, as is found in many overall wellness formulas that use too many ingredients in dose amounts that are ineffective. Tyrosine optimizes brain and nerve function by providing the raw material the body needs to create adrenalin and dopamine-two vital nerve messenger chemicals that are essential for both energy production and stabilized moods. NAC is metabolized to glutathione, which purifies the liver and other tissues as the body’s main detoxification pathway.

Zembrin®-Miracle Herb
It is hard to pick just one herb to review here, as any one of these has a story that could fill a book. Suffice it to say that all of these have been used and revered by indigenous cultures as “royal herbs” for healing and longevity, so adding them all together in the right amounts results in a super-royal combination. That being said, let’s focus on Zembrin®, an extract of the South African herb sceletium tortuosum. This herb has the ability to significantly increase the levels of serotonin, adrenalin, and dopamine, and has been shown to be effective in the treatment of clinical depression and chronic fatigue. It is rather unique in that while it increases energy it also reduces stress by calming and cutting levels of harmful cortisol.  But that’s not all. It also increases nitric oxide blood levels, which optimizes cell function, improving circulation, healthy sexuality, and enhanced mood and mental functioning. Having higher nitric oxide levels not only makes you feel great, but it also helps protect against heart attacks and strokes as well by increasing the ability of blood to carry oxygen to the tissues. The balanced effects of this herb are what make it so special. Each daily dose of Q Vitalize Caffeine Free contains a full therapeutic dose of Zembrin®. This is the costly-patented dry extract used in the clinical studies and available in this combination exclusively from Q Sciences.
It’s reasonable to ask that if this herb is so wonderful why is it only in the Q Vitalize Caffeine Free? The answer is that the caffeinated version works very well and already includes some strong energy components (green coffee, green tea and guarana), so it makes sense to replace those with the Zembrin®. Many people (including our own Dr. Bill and Jimmy Kossert) swear by the caffeine versions of Q Vitalize, so I urge you to try them both and compare.
Consider the following facts about the other herbs in this stellar group and you will see why I am so excited about Q Vitalize.
  • Rhodiola optimizes brain function, improving mood and increasing physical stamina by up to 35%.
  • Rhodiola has been shown to effectively reduce symptoms of both chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, with no side effects.
  • Green coffee extract helps purify the liver, while green tea phenol chemicals protect against bladder and liver cancer.
  • Eleuthero (Siberian Ginseng) helps purify the blood, increasing immune function, and even protects against radiation exposure.
* Fo-ti optimizes and rejuvenates, used traditionally as a longevity herb.
Now that Q Vitalize is available as a standalone, you can dial in the dose and schedule to meet your particular needs.
Q Vitalize Tips:
* Start experimenting to find your ideal Q Vitalize schedule, taking note of how you feel on each dose.
* For example, if you are sensitive to energy herbs in general, you may want to start out with 2-3 capsules in the morning.
* If you need more energy later in the day, then shift the bulk of the capsules to the afternoon, but no later than 5:00 PM as these are energizing.
* If you opt for the caffeinated version, note that the whole plant sourced caffeine is in essence time-released, so expect a smooth and steady boost lasting 6-8 hours with each dose, depending on the number of capsules you take.
* If you feel over-energized or too hyper for your taste, then back off on the number of capsules.
* Note that how you react can change somewhat from day to day, depending on your stress levels, sleep,
diet etc., but you should be able to dial in an ideal dosage in a few days.
* If you have an increased need for energy or are feeling down or stressed, you may want to boost the dosage until that passes.
* It is OK to take up to 8 or even 10 capsules daily-that is too much for most people, but there is a considerable variation in response and some may need that extra boost at times.
* Generally, five capsules is a standard dose-taken either in the morning as one dose or spread out into two doses.

Frequently Asked Questiones:
Even though it is common knowledge that EFAs are good for you, there are still many who are hesitant to start regular supplements because of misconceptions.
  • What about mixing Q Vitalize with other products?
First of all, Q Vitalize blends beautifully with the other Q Sciences products, including EMPowerplusTM Q96, QBiotics, eQuivalent+ with Xanthones, and the QSprays. EMPowerplusTM Q96 is the foundation and adding other products, including Q Omegas, just makes it all work even better.
  • What about mixing Q Vitalize with medications? As far as medications go there should be no problems with interactions with any specific medication. If you are already taking an antidepressant medication you may be able to adjust your dosage down, as with EMPowerplusTM Q96, but that is a discussion you should have with your doctor as your symptoms and needs change.
  • Who can take Q Vitalize? Q Vitalize is safe and effective for males and females over age eight, although the dosage should be adjusted down for younger folks. I would not use the caffeine version for children unless your child is already familiar with caffeine (sodas, tea, coffee) and tolerates it well.
  • How much caffeine is in the caffeinated Q Vitalize? Approximately 100 mg per five capsules, or the amount in a cup of coffee. Remember, caffeine in its natural form has many benefits, including protecting the brain against deterioration and dementia.  While formulating Q Vitalize, I made sure that there was a balanced effect, meaning that this is not just about increasing energy, but also about instilling a sense of peace and mental alertness. Not everyone will feel a boost every time they take Q Vitalize, but rest assured that everyone benefits in ways that are more subtle. Here are a few examples.
  • NAC helps purify the liver, enhancing the breakdown and removal of toxins, pollutants, and medications.
  • Tyrosine optimizes communication between brain and nerve cells, preventing harmful deficiencies of key neurotransmitters.
  • Eleuthero helps protect against the development of diabetes, heart disease and other chronic diseases.
  • Damiana optimizes sexual function in both men and women.
  • Fo-Ti helps protect against aging of the endocrine/ adrenal system.
  • Quercitin helps protect against infections by viruses and bacteria.
Remarkable Value:
Consider this: if you were to buy all of the ingredients in Q Vitalize separately it would cost many times more than a bottle of Q Vitalize. This is no exaggeration, as a month’s supply of sceletium (Zembrin®) alone is $30 and that is one of some 15 ingredients. The value of having all of these amazing herbs and amino acids perfectly combined, in the right dosage, and in easy-to-use capsules, is considerable to say the least. That, plus the extra shelf space you would need for all those bottles.
Q Vitalize is a complex and potent formula, and you won’t know how you respond until you try it. While many will feel immediate benefits, it may take a week or two for full effects. Be patient and remember that whether you feel it every day or not, this formula is working 24/7 to keep you purified, optimized and protected. Daren Hogge called me the other day to tell me that he was taking Q Vitalize Men Caffeine Free and was not feeling much immediate effect. I suggested that he take the full five capsules at once in the morning. The next day he called and said, “NOW I get it. I feel fantastic.” This is a great example of the trigger or switch effect-once the switch is on, it stays on, and you will have fun experimenting to find what dosage works best for you.
Thanks, all, for your support and hard work. I have waited over 30 years to realize this dream and am so pleased that you can now experience the magic of these natural gifts firsthand. Dial in your dosage and see how great you will feel.
Yours Qssentially, Dr K.
